In accordance with Missouri Rules of Court, all attorneys' fees are required to be reasonable. Legal services for my clients are billed by me at an hourly rate broken down into quarter hour increments for most legal services. My current hourly rate is $250 per hour. For many services such as entity creation or certain estate planning, I offer a flat fee or a fixed fee as an alternative. I accept payments by, cash, check or major credit cards namely Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
My fixed rate or flat fee for Entity creations is $500 for corporations or limited liability companies. This includes the preparation and filing of the Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization with the Secretary of State's Office, preparation of By-laws or standard Operating Agreements and initial shareholder/member/board of directors meetings. Filing fees and other expenses are billed separately. Additional services are billed at an hourly rate.
My flat rate or fixed fee for estate planning services depends upon the package. For the Living Trust Package which includes either revocable living trusts for a husband and wife or a Qualified Spousal Trust, pour-over wills, financial durable powers of attorney and health-care durable powers of attorney including HIPPA waivers and health-care directives, I charge a flat fee of $1,750. For the Standard Will Package, which includes standard wills for a husband and wife including testamentary trusts for children, financial durable powers of attorney and health-care durable powers of attorney including HIPPA waivers and health-care directives, I charge a flat fee of $750. In order to qualify for a flat fee or fixed-rate, the estate planning services which I'm providing cannot include substantial custom drafting or numerous face-to-face meetings. Where this is necessary, hourly fees will apply instead. Of course, I will advise you if your a estate plan will qualify for the flat fee or fixed rate as soon as I know the scope of your estate planning needs.
In addition, alternative billing arrangements can also be to considered. Of course, each legal situation is unique and the required legal work and fees can vary. If you would like a quote on a flat fee or would like to know hourly rates please email me.
As for costs, in general items such as telephone usage, copies and the like will not be billed. For those costs and expenses which are not ordinary in nature clients are asked to pay these directly to the provider. Please email me if you would like more details.
